The Doraemon layout - Page 3 of 4

About figures, during the construction of the layout I immediately realized that none of the items on the market could be suitable for representing Japanese characters. Both their dimensions, their poses and the clothes could not be adapted to what I wanted to realize, as to represent characters that were on the border between reality and fantasy.

So, I thought to design and print all the figures by myself and, in this way, I also created absolutely original and very varied figures and poses. Painting them I tried to further differentiate each figure, just to create the desired variety I needed.

So, I also needed to achieve many different poses for the main character of Nobita (the true protagonist of the adventures of Doraemon), who is present, around the layout, in multiple poses and situations. This is certainly a good excuse to entice the observer to look for him, having to examine the layout very carefully.

At the same way I realized human figures, I also made many small animals by hand. They are swans, ducks, geese, hens, dogs, pigs, wild boars. Also in this case it is fun to look for them, and it's not easy, given the small size of some of them!

The rocks that can be seen in the photographs are made with Knittenrfelsen by Andreas Dietrich, a very simple system for creating rocky walls in a short time and with excellent results. The use of these special photographic papers allows a considerable saving also in terms of weight, a need very felt especially when you have to make a model to be carried with you in a suitcase!
